The Minis Meet Henry

I am sorry it has taken so long to write this blog, we have had lots of problems connecting to the internet, at Baboon HQ this week!!

Anyway, the Minis had a real treat last Saturday.  They met Henry and some of the friends.

I welcomed Henry and Heinrich, Henry's German rabbit friend, to Baboon HQ.

The Minis were thrilled to meet Henry and his friends Heinrich and Hamish.

Spot the non-baboons in this picture!  Henry and the Minis are in there somewhere, chatting with us baboons.

We took Henry for a long country walk to meet these Hebridean sheep.  We had to go down a very pretty path to find them.

Henry suggested that, as the Minis were staying with baboons, they probably should get used to climbing trees.  They decided to give it a try.

We had a lovely day with Henry and I know that he has shown pictures of different parts of the day.  The Minis are still excited about meeting English Twitter pals, and will meet others while they are here.

The Freshwater Way

Yesterday was Easter Sunday and the Minis went for a walk.  They walked a popular route on the island.  The Freshwater Way.

They started at Yarmouth where they admired the boats in the harbour.

They were fascinated by the Yarmouth Lifeboat,

and met the monster who ate the planks of Yarmouth pier.  He didn't threaten them as he prefers wood.

They walked along the same disused railway that they have been on before, to the causeway at Freshwater.

We walked through some lovely countryside and saw this.

The boys decided to have rest in these beautiful surroundings.

We walked around until we got to the other side of the causeway.  This is the church that you can see in the distance in the other picture.

It has a old and interesting graveyard.

They soon got back to Yarmouth where they ate their sandwiches.  The Minis are enjoying the long weekend.  It is amazing that Tweek hasn't been in a pub yet since he has been here.

More adventures to come.

The Minis at Bembridge

The Minis have been out and about again today.  The sunshine was very bright and it was difficult to get really good photos, however, we have done our best.

The weekend started on Friday evening with fish and chips, from the fish and chip shop.  The Minis have been really keen to eat these.  Of course with fish Mini Tweak had white wine.

Our visitors always love fish and chips.  This morning, before going for a long walk, we all needed a good breakfast.  When the Minis found some maple syrup they decided that we would have to have pancakes.  Being Canadian, they were very pleased to see Canadian maple syrup.

We drove eastwards to the village of Bembridge, home of the famous bakery, and walked along the cliff path.  The Minis were interested in the calved dolphin in somebody's seaside garden.

At this point Tweak tried to get closer and fell over the fence.  It took ages to pick all the grass seeds off of him.

The island is off the south coast of England and has a warm climate.  The Minis were fascinated by these palm trees.

We walked along the cliff path towards Culver Cliff.

The Minis wondered whether they could get a job as Baywatch lifeguards.

Mostly the path is wooded and we saw blossom on the trees.

When we got to a gap the Minis realized how high up we were on the cliffs.

On the way back the Minis came across some early bluebells.

It really is spring when these arrive!!

It was hot and the sun was very bright so we do not have many pictures today, but the Minis had a good time.  Just to reassure you Snuffy, they used sunscreen and didn't stay out too long.

More adventures for the Minis over the Easter weekend.

Another adventure for the Minis

The Minis had another adventure today.  The weather was lovely and we drove out to Freshwater to start our walk at the causeway.

They started by saying hello to the ducks and swans in the River Yar.  This river is tidal and the tide was very low this morning, the ducks didn't seem to mind.

Then they looked across the causeway towards the church.  We were not going that way today but we will take them there soon.  We walked down the disused railway towards Yarmouth.

There are a lot of spring flowers on the island and Snuffy and Tweak found some primroses.

These bears don't enjoy climbing as much as baboons do, but Snuffy did want to have a look at the blossom.

We came to a cafe that is in the old Yarmouth station.  The trains don't run on the west of the island at all now, so there are walks along old railways and cafes in old stations.  This cafe "Off the Rails" is done out with a railway theme.  These seats look like train seats.

They may not be keen on climbing trees, but they enjoyed climbing on this luggage and looking at the old railway lamp.

We always love this railway gate.  The Minis didn't mind climbing on that.

Finally they came across some more spring flowers.  It is a beautiful season on the island and the Minis are enjoying that.
