The Minis' Adventure

The weather has not been very good since the Minis arrived at Baboon HQ, so they have not been on many adventures.  All that changed this week so we took them on one of our favourite walks.  But before that they had to have a good meal the night before all that walking.  So they chose homemade pizzas.

That should give them enough energy!

The walk starts from Baboon HQ and we soon got to the start of the walk, on a wooded path.

After a while we reached a bridge across a stream, with ducks.

The Minis stopped to chat to the ducks.

Soon we reached the 14th century church of Holy Cross, in the village of Binstead.  This is a very historic church in the woods.

Near the church the Minis saw some spring blossom.  You can just see them sitting on the hedge under the tree.

We came across this head of somebody.  We think it might be Queen Victoria.  The Minis stopped to say hello, but she wasn't awfully friendly.

Next we came to the ruins of the ancient Quarr Abbey, that was destroyed when King Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries, after his break from the Roman Catholic church.  The Minis stood in the hedge to see the  sheep grazing in the ruins.

Before we came to the newer abbey the boys found this little hut, where somebody was selling eggs.  They played in the shaft that is used for collecting the money.

Quite soon we came to the newer abbey and the Minis stood on yet another hedge to have a look.  This building is described at Moorish Expressionist, it was built in 1910.  Mini Snuffy, as a designer, was interested in the shapes.

At the abbey there were some pigs.  The boys had a look but the pigs thought they might be food, so we didn't hang around too long.

No piglets yet, but soon we hope!!

We walked down to the car ferry terminal at Fishbourne, this ferry goes to Portsmouth.

The boys just had time to admire the village green at Fishbourne,

with its beautiful daffodils, before Mini Tweak noticed this sign.

This was the Fishbourne Inn.

We went in for ......

coffee!!  It is not clear whether Tweak was turning his back on the coffee in disgust, or resting against the cup in exhaustion.  He didn't get any wine there, but he will tonight.

Then we went home, the same way.

The Minis will get more adventures now that the weather is better, so keep watching.  They still have a VIP to meet!!

The Minis First Week

Sadly I cannot log into my old blog, Kolo's World, it is all still online and can be read, but I can't get logged in and because I have changed my e-mail address it won't let me in.  I have started a new one, but it really carries on from Kolo's World. I will still try to get that blog back, of course.

Anyway, we have visitors at Baboon HQ.  Mini Snuffy and Mini Tweak have been here for a week.  Its been a quiet week but they have done a few things.

On arrival they were thirsty and wanted a drink we asked them what they would like.

Then they met me:

Leroy

and our big Teddy Bear, Edward

It has been a bit of a quiet week, because of work, but yesterday we took them out for breakfast at the Bembridge Bakery.

They both had toast, marmalade and tea (they don't serve alcohol at breakfast time).

They also inspected the cakes at the bakery.

Later Tweak explored Baboon HQ and found has way into the fridge.

It was a bit cold for him to stay in there.  Even the most dedicated drinker would struggle to stay in the fridge for too long, but we gave him a drink to have with his dinner.

We had macaroni cheese with beans, and the Minis enjoyed it.

Today we took them down to the seafront.  It was a bit foggy for the beach, but they climbed a palm tree.

and found some signs of spring, daffodils and primroses.

The Minis are Canadian, so they are not deeply into the football that we love, but we'll try to carry on the good work, that we are sure Toddy must have started, and get them interested.  We started with a tour of the Baboon HQ football mascots museum.  Yes, well it is a bit mixed, those are Buddhist monks you can see in the bottom right hand corner.  Buddhist monks love football.

Today they will watch our team with us (not a good experience lately) and they will have home made pizza.  We will take pictures!!
